Colour is slow for a reason that has nothing to do with the stylist: the chemistry needs time. Lightener opens the cuticle and dissolves melanin over thirty to forty-five minutes; a permanent colour needs thirty-five to develop. Rush either and the result is patchy, or brassy, or both.
So we write the processing time into every booking. On the menu it is the hatched part of each bar. In the planner it is the stretch where your chair is free — you can read, work, or walk up the road for a coffee.
Where a balayage goes
Ninety minutes of painting, forty of lifting, then a wash, a toner and a finish. We quote two and a half hours and usually finish inside it.
